The 2025 Sanrio Character Grand Prize, a popular voting event for Sanrio characters, which will mark its 40th anniversary in 2025, has been decided to be held from April 10th to May 25th. It has also been revealed that “SANRIO FES” will be held for two days, which will announce the key visuals and results. During the period, the “partner department” will also be held at the same time, in which characters from companies and local governments are partnered.

The Sanrio Character Awards are a popular voting event that started in Sanrio’s official newspaper, Monthly Strawberry Newspaper, in 1986, and is determined by the number of votes. It has evolved from postcard voting and in-store voting to online voting, and has grown into an event that can be attended by fans from all over the world, not just within Japan.
In 2024, the total number of votes exceeded 57 million, and it reached a record high. And 2025 marks the milestone year of its 40th anniversary.

This time, 90 characters were selected from over 450 Sanrio characters and entered the list. Their lineup will be announced daily on the official Sanrio Character Award X (formerly Twitter) from March 12th to April 2nd.
On April 3rd, a list of characters entered will be released on the Sanrio Character Award official website. Various members are scheduled to appear, including regulars who have made entries and characters that have been “revived” for the first time in a while. In 2024, Cinnamoroll won the grand prize for the fifth consecutive year.

This year’s theme is “Jump to the future with you!” The Sanrio Character Awards, which marks its milestone year of its 40th anniversary, is a desire to bring the future to the fullest with fans to “splash!” and expand the circle of smiles and happiness all around the world. The key visual depicts the characters jumping powerfully towards the future, and is a positive and energetic design.
And with the 40th anniversary, the logo design has been revamped. The new logo expresses the excitement and excitement that only the Sanrio Character Awards can offer.

During the voting period, there will also be a support event where a character designer will be autographed and a greeting event where you can take photos with live characters. Participants will be given a voting card.

“SANRIO FES,” which was thrilled with approximately 8,000 people in the venue and approximately 1.4 million fans in online streaming, has also been scheduled to be held for the first two days on June 28th and 29th. The results of the 2025 Sanrio Character Awards will be announced, and this time it will be delivered online as well. Events and ticket information will be announced at a later date.

Voting will be accepted for the 2025 Sanrio Character Awards from 11am on April 10th to May 25th. Initial breaking news and interim announcements will also be held during the period.
