‘The Boys’ and ‘Supernatural’ star Jensen Ackles has been tapped to lead Derek Haas’ Amazon thriller series ‘Countdown.’
The 13-episode series follows a suspicious murder in broad daylight, which leads to LAPD officer Mark Meachum (Ackles) being recruited to join a secret task force of undercover agents from all branches of law enforcement to investigate it. But when the truth of a more sinister plot comes into focus, the team must overcome their conflicting personal agendas to unite and save a city of millions.
Haas, who created the series, will serve as executive producer and showrunner. The series was created as a vehicle starring Ackles.
“I had a great experience working with the Prime Video team on ‘The Boys’ and I’m excited to continue that relationship on Countdown,” said Ackles.
After playing Jared Padalecki for 15 seasons on ‘Supernatural,’ Ackles has starred in ‘The Boys’ and its spinoff series, ‘Gen V,’ and executive produced and narrated the ‘Supernatural’ prequel series ‘The Winchesters. ‘
