Top 1 in the box office sales of anime films in all time! China’s 3DCG “Nata: The Magical Maiden Sea” is scheduled to be released in Japan for emergency release

Following the Chinese 3DCG animated film “Nata: The Madou Kaehai” becoming a huge hit worldwide, it has been decided that it will be released nationwide as a Japanese subtitle version from April 4th, 2025. Prior to this, the Chinese subtitle version will be released exclusively from March 14th.

Nata: The Demon King Sea is a 3DCG animated film featuring Nata, a mythical character who appears in classic Chinese novels such as Feng Shen Yanyu and Journey to the West, known as Prince Nata, a well-known Japanese persona, and is known to the name of the Nata.

Nata, who would become an elder if raised, was born with the fate of becoming a demon king who would confuse the world due to some kind of conspiracy. Nata has been lonely since childhood, but gradually grows through the raising of her parents, and becomes best friend with Gohei, the son of Tokai Ryuuou Gokyu, but the two destined to face further challenges.

This is a sequel to “Ne Zha” (English title: Ne Zha), released in 2019. When it was released in China on January 29th of the Chinese New Year, the cumulative box office up to March 2nd recorded an incredible sales of approximately 14.5 billion yuan (approximately 300 billion yen). It has also made a great stride in the overseas film market, and in North America, it has entered the top 10 weekly box office rankings for three consecutive weeks. The global box office revenue has surpassed classics such as Inside Head 2, The Lion King, and Frozen 2, and has been attracting worldwide attention, making it the number one animated film ever to be the number one box office grossing in the world.

Following this global hit, it has been decided that the Japanese subtitle version will be released nationwide from April 4th. Prior to this, it has also been revealed that Chinese audio/Chinese/English subtitles will be released exclusively at approximately 30 theaters nationwide, including Grand Cinema Sunshine Ikebukuro and Shinjuku Piccadilly from March 14th. The theaters are scheduled to be added one after another.

Along with the announcement, a powerful home version poster was also unveiled, with Nata holding a fire-pointed spear in her hand and showing her majestic and vibrant in flames.

The film has been planned and distributed to be screened in Japan, including “Luo Xiao Black War”, “White Snake: Lucky”, “Lion Boy”, “Yousen”, and “Fengshin: Fierce Battle!” The film is an interesting film that has been responsible for distributing numerous Chinese films in Japan, mainly animated films such as “The Burning Battle of the West.” Look out for the Chinese mythology battle fantasy, a huge hit that is finally here in Japan.
