Items from the Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Series have been released to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Sanrio’s official newspaper, Monthly Strawberry Newspaper. It has been announced that it will be available at Sanrio Corner, Sanrio Shops, Sanrio direct stores, department stores nationwide from March 13th, 2025. As a purchase bonus, stickers with a strawberry newspaper design and a “Strawberry Newspaper Cover Sticker” will also be available.
The “Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Series” is a series in which characters wearing strawberry dresses and accessories celebrate the 50th anniversary of Sanrio’s Monthly Strawberry Newspaper, which was first published in 1975. This special lineup of items features a 50th anniversary mark, including “plucked animals” and “mascot holders”, as well as a “clear case with mascot” with design cards from the strawberry newspaper, and a “multi-case” that can store strawberry newspaper baths and B6-sized notebooks.
As a purchase bonus, buyers at participating stores will receive one sticker with a strawberry newspaper design from all six types. You can also receive one strawberry newspaper cover sticker for every 2,200 yen (tax included) product you will receive up to two strawberry newspaper cover stickers. In addition, it has been decided that the “Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Shop” will be held at seven Sanrio shops nationwide. It is said that a panel display of the Ichigo Shimbun’s representative newspaper will be held and a Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Quiz will be held exclusively for members of “Sanrio+”, so you won’t miss this one either.
In addition, the Sanrio Online Shop will also be releasing a limited edition “Character Birthday Celebration Set.” This set includes a three-piece set of stuffed animals, background sheets, and message cards that can be used to celebrate a character’s birthday, and includes a lineup of 20 characters including Bad Batsumaru, Pom Pom Purin, Kogimyun, and Tuxedo Sam.
As a purchase bonus exclusive to the Sanrio Online Shop, a project will also be held where a “Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Plate” will be given out for every purchase of 8,800 yen (tax included).
In addition, the “Strawberry Newspaper 50th Anniversary Series” will also be available for a limited time on “MY SANRIO,” a customization service exclusive to the Sanrio Online Shop main store. Items from the Fuwashaka Kids Design Series, planned by the Strawberry Newspaper & Strawberry Mate (Strawberry Newspaper Readers), will also be released on March 26th (10am at the Sanrio Online Shop on March 25th), so check it out.
