Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy will star in the film adaptation of Enid Blyton’s children’s classic “The Magic Faraway Tree.“

Based on her series of children’s novels, “The Magic Faraway Tree” follows Polly and Tim and their children Beth, Joe and Fran – a family forced to move to the English countryside. Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) will play Tim and Claire Foy (The Crown) will take on the role of Polly.

“To have two actors of the quality of Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy is a dream for any screenwriter,“ said Simon Farnaby (Wonka). “They have the power to imbue the complexities of their characters that I don’t have the power to write… I mean, even Enid Blyton would be impressed that we have Spider-Man and the Queen….“

Famous for being the original creator of “Noddy” and “the five,“ Enid Mary Blyton (1897-1968) began the Faraway Tree literary franchise in 1939 with “The Enchanted Wood.” It was followed by” the Magic Faraway Tree “(1943),” the Folk of the Faraway Tree “(1946) and” Up the Faraway Tree ” (1951). The stories take place in an enchanted forest where a gigantic magical tree grows – the “Far tree”, so tall that its highest branches reach the clouds. It is wide enough to contain small houses carved into its trunk.
